It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rev. Robert Lowery Gilliland. A man of great love, patience and compassion. He passed away February 16, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.
Through his journey of 85 years, he touched many lives with his wisdom, humor and unwavering love for the Lord. He farmed for many years before he entered the ministry. He was never happier than when he was in the pulpit or on his tractor. He raised a family with his beautiful wife, Betty of 62 years, who he loved with all his heart – three rambunctious children, Angie (Johnnie) Smith, Roger (Pam) Gilliand and Aimee (Chuck) Spriggs. Six Grandchildren and eight great Grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews. He was the baby of eight children and preached most of their funerals. He is survived by one sister-Addie Rutherford of Lake Village. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
“Along the way” was his favorite saying. As we go along our way, he will continue to love and guide us with the wisdom only he can offer.
Services will be held at Deer Creek Baptist Church February 19,2026 visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service, with a funeral service at 11:00 am, with a burial following at Valley Park Baptist Church.
