Charles Randolph "Randy" Kirby, 66, passed away at his home in Rolling Fork, MS on April 15, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He was born April 2, 1958, to Charles and Betty Kirby.
Randy attended Sharkey Issaquena Academy and worked with his parents at K&C Repair before joining the Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg where he was a machinist with the mat sinking unit for over 20 years.
Randy was an avid fisherman and gardener, and he loved sharing his bounty with the community. He enjoyed meeting friends for coffee and discussing Delta History, farming and his time with the Corps.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles E. Kirby, his mother Betty C. Kirby, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Randy loved his family and leaves behind his sister Joy (Larry) of Frisco City, Alabama, brothers Tim (Elizabeth) of Rolling Fork, and Cliff (Haley) of Eagle Lake. As well as 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 1 great-nephew and 6 great-nieces.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
Randy had a special place in his heart for animals. He especially loved his 4 legged fur nieces and nephews, who attended "Uncle Randy Day Care" Monday-Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue Fund, Community Animal Rescue and Adoption, or Mississippi Animan Rescue League.
