David Christian Hage

Funeral services for David Christian Hage will be at the Newellton Union Church in Newellton, Louisiana, on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 2018, at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton.
David was born in Esterville, Iowa on January 21, 1944. He grew up in Missouri with his Swedish family that was full of love but also taught him the value of hard work. He joined the Eagle Scouts and went on many trips with them. After graduating high school, he went to Louisiana Tech in Ruston, where he graduated with a B.S. degree in business administration and industrial management. He joined the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. While in Germany, he was the Chief Clerk and Administrative Assistant to the G-4, achieving the rank of Specialist Fifth Class. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
On December 6, 1975, David married Barbara Sue Doyle Hage in Newellton, Louisiana, where they resided for four years before moving to Lake Bruin. David was a long-time member of the Newellton Union Church, where he served as secretary for over 20 years. He loved working in the yard and flower beds, solving crossword puzzles and telling jokes. David loved to make people laugh. He served The Last Straw Group for 27 years, where his leadership and unwavering devotion inspired many.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Hage, and his parents, Alfred and Margaret Hage. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Hage Hosea and husband, Paul Hosea, and two grandsons, Christian Hosea and Levi Hosea.
