Harry Hamilton Douglas
August 14, 1926 - June 2, 2017
Rev. Harry H. Douglas, age 90 of Satartia, MS went to be with his Lord and Savior June 2, 2017. He left this life peacefully at home with his family at his side.
Harry was born in Palatka, Florida August 14, 1926 the eldest son of the late Harry H. and Verdie Mae Douglas. He served in the US Navy in WWII.
He worked for the Miss. Baptist Convention Board 32 years serving on staff at Camp Garaywa. He was bi-vocational pastor of Rocky Springs, Lula, Hermanville, Bovina, Carpenter and Deer Creek Baptist Churches. He taught Sunday School at Pocahontas Baptist Church. Leisure activities included hunting, fishing gardening and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles, Jack, Jerry and John Douglas, sister Inez Senters and son Wayne R. Douglas.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances H. Douglas; children, Dianne Belk (Freddie) of Satartia, Harvey E. Douglas (Delores) of Flora, Patty Shropshire (Doss) of Redwood and Julie Peoples (Wendell) of Brandon; daughter-in-law Cathy Douglas of Tampa, FL; 2 sisters, Mary Tarver of Baton Rouge, LA and Nellie Gunter (Walter) of Satsuma, FL; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly miss by all who knew him until by God's grace we are reunited with him and all who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior to be together in eternity.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 11 AM at the Pocahontas Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pocahontas Baptist Church, 4200 Kickapoo Rd., Jackson, MS or the American Cancer Society.
