Margaret Newton Griffin
October 23, 1932 - July 30, 2014

Margaret Newton Griffin passed away on July 30, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. She was 82.
Born in Sweetwater, AL to James Wesley Newton and Edna Etheridge on October 23, 1932, she moved to Hollandale, MS early in life. In 1978, she moved to Utica where she served as an English teacher at Rebel Academy for over twenty-five years. She was a member of the 20th Century Club and Utica Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Griffin of Utica; a son, George Hammack (Debra) of Madison; two daughters, Kala Noble (Mike) of Parkland, FL and Emily Hammack (Mike Patterson) of Jackson; a step-daughter, Trudy Tinsley of Utica; a sister, Evelyn Sheffield of LeRoy, AL; and four grandchildren, James Darwin Tinsley, Beverly Joyce Tinsley, Kaitlyn Noble, and Nicholas Noble.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Utica Baptist Church with Dr. Rocky Henriques officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Utica. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Hollandale Cemetery in Hollandale, MS.
